Don't hate Hamas, they're educated!

'We must adjust our distorted image of Hamas' - Times Online

We must, must we? Why? What will happen if we don't?

Our distorted image? This implies that some underhand movement has been surrepticiously making Hamas appear as something they are not and we are all of the same opinion.

If you can stomach it you can read it for yourself however the gist is that the reporter has been back and forth to Gaza in the last 18 months, had a good time whilst he was there and met some nice people who are now dead thanks to Israelli aggression. He goes on to say that Hamas aren't a terrorist organisation as designated by the UK and US and that in 2006 there was an opportunity for peace that was wasted by Bush's rejection to deal with them because of their charter that called for the destruction of Israel.

But get this, the rank and file of Hamas are educated - can you believe it? Boasting over 500 PhD's between them, wow! I bet the civilian population of Israel who day in day out live in fear of being blown up by a Palestinian rocket (fired deliberately at them rather than military installations) feel better now knowing that a well educated person has authorised the attack. Clearly anyone with less than a PhD isn't intelligent enough to understand why innocent civilians are being targeted - which IS a war crime by the way, just in case you weren't sure.

For the avoidance of doubt, let's get something straight. You don't tell me what I must do, I shall decide that for myself because I'm a Westerner and currently have that option.

Hamas's charter says it all - "The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinguished Palestinian movement, whose allegiance is to Allah, and whose way of life is Islam. It strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine, for under the wing of Islam followers of all religions can coexist in security and safety where their lives, possessions and rights are concerned."

The lack of peace in the region has a little to do with land and a lot to do with religion and whilst this is the case, there is no solution regardless of whether you get the two sets of politicians in a room talking or not.

Hamas has declared it's allegiance to Allah and the destruction of Israel. Hamas are bankrolled by Iran and Syria, both fundamentalist Islamic strongholds in the Middle East. Removing this statement from their charter is as good as them admitting that they refuse to carry out the word of Allah and you don't have to have a PhD to understand that this will never happen.

Thus there will never be peace in the region whilst there are Muslims who are prepared to kill and be killed in the name of Allah to carry out his instructions twinned with the vast quantities of incoming international aid as a sweetener to the ongoing 'attempts' at dialogue and peace.

Unfortunately the reporter has completely discounted this fundamental and unremovable ingredient in the mix.

Peace will only come about when one of these groups ceases to exist. Until then we are destined to witness the bloody race of who gets there first.
